Location.
The Hotel Zoo Berlin, set in a historical Jugendstil building and a hotel since 1911, is located on the Kurfürstendamm shopping boulevard with several theatres, restaurants, and museums in the immediate vicinity. The nearest airport is Berlin-Tegel (TXL), nine kilometres away, around 20 minutes by car.

Hotel Features.
Through the wall-to-wall windows of the first floor G-Lounge, guests can watch shoppers on the Kurfürstendamm below. The G-Lounge is open 24 hours and serves cocktails and snacks to guests reclining on leather armchairs and sofas. The lounge is filled with ambient music and guests can use the wireless Internet facility to plan a day's sightseeing. The hotel has three conference rooms and a large banquet room which can be used for a range of events. The lobby provides a good meeting point, and a place to relax on the suede chairs and sofa browsing the complimentary newspapers.

Breakfast (surcharge) is served in the modern dining room, which is decorated in crisp white with sleek, high-backed dark wooden chairs, and colourful movie prints adorning the walls in recognition of the Hotel Zoo's history as official hotel of the Berlin Film Festival in the 1950s.

Berlin's central park, the Tiergarten, is located 700 metres from the hotel. From the Tiergarten, joggers and walkers can follow the Spree Canal which leads towards the Chancellery, Reichstag, and the Brandenburg Gate.


Guestrooms.
The Hotel Zoo has 136 rooms spread over six floors, some with views of the inner courtyard and others with views of the Kurfürstendamm. Guestrooms have bright, contemporary decor with carpeted floors, coffee tables, and full-length mirrors, and come with laptop-sized safes, satellite television, minibars, and Internet connections.


Expert Tip. From the U-Bahn station Augsburger Strasse, 500 metres from the hotel, guests can take the U3 metro to Krumme Lanke, and walk down to the crystal clear lake located on the edge of the Grünewald. There are small beaches along the lake for swimming in summer, while in winter it often freezes over, providing ideal conditions for ice skating.

Driving Directions : Taxis are readily available outside the terminal and cost around EUR 15. An airport bus (the X9) travels all the way the Zoo train station; tickets cost around EUR 2.10. From Zoo, walk south along Joachimstaler Strasse; the third intersection is with Kurfürstendamm. Turn right and the hotel is on the right. Driving directions: From Tegel Airport, go straight, cross the intersection with Saatwinkler Damm and then turn right onto Autobahn 111 which then becomes the A100. Take exit Kaiserdamm, turn left onto Knobelsdorff Strasse, then right onto Charlotten Strasse and then left onto Kaiserdamm. Kaiserdamm becomes Bismarck Strasse. At the big roundabout, turn right onto Hardenberg Strasse. Go right onto Uhland Strasse then left onto Kurfürstendamm. The hotel is on the left.
