Expert Tip. Schaarbeek is a Brussels neighbourhood of two halves. Downtown is home to a strong Turkish community as well as Moroccan and other immigrant communities, while uptown is the place for EU types who like its fine architecture, closeness to the financial centre of the city, and the airport. There's a bit of a family vibe too, as young couples favour it for its bohemian atmosphere.
